As part of the transition to fossil-free energy, solar energy emerges as a natural component. Solar energy and the production of solar cells/solar panels have become a high-priority focus area in Europe, as the continent currently accounts for a very small portion of global solar cell production. The production of solar panels is projected to experience dramatic growth in Europe in the coming years.

Frame Bonding

Bonding frames provides necessary robustness to solar cells, enabling handling and strength during assembly, ensuring good durability and lifespan. Suitable adhesive is DOWSIL PV 804. For those desiring a faster curing time for the adhesive, DOWSIL PV8404 is available, with a setting time of only five minutes at 25°C.

Frame Sealing

Prevents moisture and water ingress; depending on the design, PV804 or PV8301 can be advantageously used in this application.

Sealing the Junction Box After connection in the junction box, effective moisture protection is needed to safeguard the connection and ensure optimal long-term functionality. Suitable materials include potting compound DOWSIL PV7326. Alternatively, a bead of PV804 can be applied (see image), and the cover is then bonded to the junction box.

Adhesion of Junction Box

When installing the junction box, it's essential to securely attach it in its designated location. It is common practice to bond the junction box in place, and DOWSIL PV804 is well-suited and a favorite in the industry. The adhesive is well-proven and carries UL certification number E40195.
