Silicone Adhesives and Sealants

Silicone adhesives are a group of adhesives that have developed a lot in recent years. Silicone adhesives are available as 1- and 2-component products. They are the only adhesives that provide a continuous use temperature of approx. 200°C without requiring heat curing. This is combined with use in the cold, often down to -50°C. All silicone adhesives provide soft-elastic/flexible adhesive joints. The 1-component adhesive (RTV1) hardens with the help of moisture. The hardening is a so-called condensation hardening. This means that something is split off in the chemical reaction. What departs depends on the hearth system. The most common has been acetic acid. Curing takes place relatively slowly and goes more slowly further into the glue. Silicone adhesives are relatively work environment-friendly adhesives. Silicone glue is also available as UV curing, and as hot melt glue for quick fixing which then hardens in humidity.
